Picture is from 10/19/11, 3D data collection day at ZenoLink in Endicott with AMM/TPI 3D and ZenoLink.
Last week, I posted about collecting data for some swing speeds as a bench mark for my current training. I concluded that those numbers are not reliable and will need to seek out the use of a TrackMan to get a better idea of what my numbers are in reality and that will have to serve as my new bench mark.
The only stuff to report about my working out from last week is that I have increased the amount of weight for all my lifts by 5 pounds.
This week it is more of the same. I am still doing all the same lifts. Bench press on a Swiss ball, Shoulder shrugs, bicep curls, Over head triceps press, Shoulder press, Bent over Rows, Squats and Mini band walks. My core workout is still the same. Planks, Right side plank, Left side plank, all for 1 minute, with 1 minute rest between sets, with 3 sets of each. Followed by 3 sets of 60 Russian twists with a Medicine ball.
I am definitely feeling stronger. I am also noticing more things with regard to my diet. Specifically, if I eat processed food (fast food, or even from a nice restaurant), they tend to have higher levels of sodium and I will notice slight swelling in my ankles. Also I will feel very heavy while working out. Planking is much more labor intensive and I start to shake and get tired quicker, which makes for a really tough workout. I have dropped a few more pounds, and am down to 239lbs. My goal for the spring golf season is to get down to 225lbs. Although the weight isn't coming off as quickly as I would like, I do notice that it is looking like I am loosing weight. I have not measured my body to see how many inches I have lost, but I do have some numbers from the beginning of my journey recorded so I can compare my progress. This will be another thing I will need to do so I can report back to you the reader.
Thanks again for following me. My golf coach Dan Parks' journal "The Journal of Applied Golf Research" also know as the JAGR recently published it's December issue which features the case study that has sparked my writing this blog and undertaking this new direction with regard to my fitness and golf fitness. For all that are interested in the science side of golf I highly suggest you check it out. There is a link on the right side of this website. But you can also link directly http://www.thejagr.com. The article also provides my 3D data from the swings recorded at ZenoLink in Endicott as well as previous swings we recorded on AMM/TPI 3D, so if you are a numbers guy you can check that out. Or if you are just interested in 3D and a 3D swing analysis, you can see what kind of information you will get from doing one.
